Hanging of the Greens

Join us on Sunday, December 3 for a special service of the Hanging of the Greens during the 9:30AM worship service

Advent is a time of preparation for Christmas and preparing ourselves for a new year living in the presence of God through our relationship with Christ. Join us on Sunday, December 3 for a special service of the Hanging of the Greens during the 9:30AM worship service to prepare for the beginning of Advent. During the service we will gather and place decorations, which will tell the story of Christ’s birth in their unique way. We will hear the timeless traditions behind these decorations and sing the beloved, favorite carols and listen anew to the stories of Christ’s birth as recorded in the gospels.

Advent Study

Join us for a weekly Advent Study, In Light of the World: A Beginner’s Guide to Advent, by Amy-Jill Levine. Together, we will explore the biblical texts surrounding the Christmas narrative through the stories of Zechariah and Elizabeth, Mary, the journey to Bethlehem, and the visit from the Magi. These stories will open conversations around connections of the Gospel stories to the Old Testament, the role of women in first-century Jewish culture, the importance of Mary’s visitation and the revolutionary implications of Mary’s Magnificat, the census and the stable, and the star of Bethlehem and the flight to Egypt. We will meet every Monday (November 27, December 4, December 11, and December 18) from 6:30-7:30PM. There is no registration required or fee. Feel free to come to one session, a couple or all of them! We look forward to you joining us for an evening of exploration and preparation for Christmas.

Live Nativity and Prayer Walk

Join us December 8 from 6:00 – 8:00PM for our Live Nativity and Prayer Walk.

Walk along the lower trail while reading the story of Christmas. There will be a variety of stations and characters along the way that will help you prepare your heart for Christmas. This isn’t your typical Live Nativity, but an opportunity for you, your family and friends of all ages to come together to spend time together in this time of Advent, time of waiting and preparing. So, come as you are and be a part of the story.
